Would you have that number off hand?
if your are still looking, call GM vintage cars and they can usually with the vin number can get u the build info, that's how I did mine
Hello -

The answer is yes and no.

Without the build sheet or original order form showing the Y79 SX option it can't be substaniated technically as an SX. But now to the "Yes" part. In my opinion the fact that you have the order form showing the L31 option highly implies this is a real SX as I'm aware of one documented non-SX but factory 455 equipped Cutlass SX in 1970. In my eyes, if the car has the other SXtip-offs like the fender braces I think I'd consider this as a semi-documented SX. I suspect others would agree. Lastly, if you had any old pictures of the car from "back in the day" I don't think anyone would dispute its legitimacy as it's only been in the last decade and probably even less than that where these cars have been cloned. Previous to that the SX flew under the radar fro ma collector standpoint.

Sounds like you have a good one.
Dear SX Enthusiasts,

I'm looking to acquire this SX convertible from my very elderly foster father. He bought the car new and I drove it to high school at some point. It has been in the family since new.

I need help to properly have the right documentation to show it's a true SX car.

1. No build sheet exists
2. No window sticker exists
3. Car was bought in Oshawa Canada. I have the warranty in English/French.
4. I have a copy of the "Retail Buyer's Vehicle Order & Agreement". Image is attached. No Y79 code is shown in the document. Engine code is L31, M38 Trans (column shift). The are many other options on the document. See attached.
5. Original trans was replaced and no longer available.
6. Engine is original

Is this documentation enough to show it's a true SX and not a clone?

I'm in the process of acquiring this car to preserve its history.

thank you
